We are always looking for motivated and committed people
who support our team in the Ecuadorian rainforest.
Here you will find out everything that is required to work as a volunteer.
We distinguish two types of volunteer commitment.

 

SOCAL
ENGAGEMENT

The student house PAKASHKA-SACHA is the headquarters in Ecuador. Our social tasks here include:

+ Helping as a tutor 
+ Guide students with social etiquette

+ Helping in administrative matters
+ Exchange of cultural knowledge
+ Visiting and helping out in local families.

 

ACADEMIC
ENGAGEMENT

The aim is to support the academic training of vocational and university graduates, but also to promote and strengthen adult education through courses.

+ Offer of courses and academic programs
+ Teaching of professionals in schools and universities
+ Tutor programs for students 
+ Help in finding a job 
+ Support for vocational training

HOW DO I COME TO MY VOLONTEER COMMITMENT?

1. Carefully read information about the assignments.

2. Work through the Volunteer self assessment

3. Fill in the Contact form below with the desired date of the assignment and add possible questions or remarks in the contact field. 

4. Motivation letter What are your motivations for your assignment. How can the project and the students benefit from your knowledge. What knowledge do you want to transfer/contribute.

5. After that we will contact you. Our volunteer contact person will go through your assignment with you and answer any questions you may have. 

6. Travel Your travel to the location will be organized by yourself. However, we will be happy to help you find good offers or fast connections.

7. Accommodation and food Housing and food will be provided In Tena, Ecuador, in the Volunteer House PAKASHKA-SACHA. It is included in your volunteer fee.

7. Preparation  Inform yourself about the cultures and the country of Ecuador via books or on the Internet. It will make it easier for you to get started in this truly different world. We are also very grateful to you when you raise the topic (especially after your commitment) in your circle of acquaintances and friends, and so educate more people about the situation in de Amazon Rainforest.

8. The organization relies on donations. We are happy if you ask for support in your environment.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS

• SABER Y CRECER is a non-profit association based on volunteering. We get our motivation and energy from our students and local people, who always amaze us and drive us to top performances. Remuneration, expenses or other forms of salaries will not be paid.

• Minimum age 18 years
• Minimum duration 1 month for teachers/Academic Engagement
• Minimum duration 3 month for outreach/Social Engagement
• Language skills Basic Spanish is required
• Travel documents Valid passport, at least 6 months longer than the duration of the stay
• Visa Ecuador automatically issues a 90 day tourist visa upon entry. This can be extended in Ecuador, shortly before the expiration for another 90 days. For volunteer assignments of more than 180 days, a volunteer visa must be applied for. In this case we will assist you with the necessary documents.
• Insurance It is in your responsibility to make sure that you are sufficiently insured in case of an accident or health problems.
• Registration deadline 3 months before the assignment
• Finances The cost per person per month is USD 400.

The amount includes: Room and board (full board) in the student house PAKASHKA-SACHA.
 The first month must be paid in advance, in case of cancellation or early departure it will not be refunded.
• Liability SABER Y CRECER declines any liability. During your assignment you are responsible for yourself. However, your safety always has the highest priority during all assignments.
• General There are no specific personal requirements to work as a volunteer. However, make sure that you are physically healthy and mentally ready for the demanding task. Working hours until late in the evening or even night shifts may be possible and require a minimum of physical and mental fitness.
It is important to us that the volunteers also get to know the environment and the culture. Therefore we plan a “volunteer day” at least once a month. On this day, fun and cultural exchange with the locals are in the foreground.
Enclosed you will also find the schedule of duties for the volunteer/student house. So you can get an idea how everything is organized.

Your contact person will be happy to give you a small insight into common tasks that you can expect as a volunteer on site.

 

PLEASE ACT REGARDING to the FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES

1. Appreciation and respect are equal to every human being. I support human rights without discrimination on ethnicity, race, religion, age, sexual orientation or gender.

2. I treat all people equally and do not prefer any.

3. I never abuse my position, emotionally or financially.

4. I show respect and patience towards local cultures and support to the best of my knowledge and conscience.

5. I dress at any time according to the situation.

6. I never use any form of threat, violence or abuse.

7. I never just put the vulnerability of an audience or a person.

8. I only take and post photos of strangers with their explicit permission.

9. I respect the legislation of Ecuador, as well as international law.

10. If I have doubts or am unsure, I contact my contact person.
