The climate in the rainforest, strong sun, heavy rains and high humidity are hard on everything built in the forest. Protection from these elements is important to preserve their value.
Shortly after completing the entrance gate, we noticed that rainwater in this area washed out the road quickly. This is a challenge that Byron has taken on. His request: build a rain gutter at the entrance gate to keep the gate entrance clean and in good condition, and to prevent damage to the metal gate at the rails.
In the student house PAKASHAKA-SACHA, each student is required to complete at least 8 hours per week doing work in and around the house. This is usually done in the form of a minga (work in the community). Also, each student has the right to make a proposal that can be discussed and approved in the group.
This Saturday the whole team, led by Byron, took up this work and they did very well.
Many thanks to the whole team for their efforts.
