We are looking for an administrator, manager for our student house in the Amazon Rainforest.
Philosohy
PAKASHKA SACHA (Hidden Garden/Forest) is a student house, financed by the association SABER Y CRCER Switzerland, association for the promotion and support of the professional, and further education of the indigenous population in the Ecuadorian rainforest.
The primary goal of this project is to stem the destruction of the Amazon rainforest through education.
SABER Y CRECER is committed to ensuring that motivated youth and adults with potential and ambition have access to professional higher education. We want to offer Indigenous youth the opportunity to acquire academic knowledge, but also to promote and preserve the knowledge of their culture.
The student house PAKASHKA-SACHA was built exactly for this purpose and also sees itself as a hub and center for exchange between cultures.
Structure
STUDENTS: supervision of 6-8 students in vocational education who live in the student house.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Organizing continuing education courses
INFRASTRUCTURE: Maintenance of infrastructure PAKASHKA-SACHA, surroundings and house
Place of work
House:
– PAKASHKA-SACHA student house was built in 2020 and is located not far from the center of Tena (5 km).
– The house offers space for 6-8 students and for max. 4 volunteers who help in the project.
– It has a modern infrastructure, bathrooms, kitchen dining room, common rooms laundry room, courtyard and also its own training room.
Surroundings:
The student house is surrounded by a primary forest of about 6 hectares. Various hiking trails have already been built and provide access to the hilly, wild primary forest. Small waterfalls, caves and 3 small streams adorn this little paradise.
We are looking for:
– A responsible person, couple or even family, to lead and courage the management of the house and its operations.
– Supervision and coordination of the students
– Leading the weekly team meetings
– Reporting of events and director in Switzerland
– Control of the finances
– Assignment time min 6 months
– All procedures and structures are in place and only need to be implemented and controlled.
– All students and possible volunteers are integrated and assigned in the daily processes:
– Household tasks are done by the students themselves. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.
– Environmental work is done weekly in so-called mingas.
– Larger jobs are outsourced to local craftsmen.
The goal is to accompany and support the students in their daily lives. This in the social but also in the academic area. The project is independent of religion.
Language in the student house is Spanish and English.
