In order to build the new student house a 250 m long road had to be built from the main street to the new student house, through extremely hilly terrain. Large machines were used to remove slopes and fill in small valleys. Several cubic yards of gravel and rock were brought to guarantee a stable base for the road. This also, because in addition to the road, all the connecting lines, water, electricity, internet, telephone were also installed under the ground, aside the street. The road is thus our lifeline for the whole house.
The undertaking became much more complex than planned. And still further adjustments have to be made spontaneously to secure this „lifeline“. Where necessary, more retaining walls are being built and others are being added. Thanks to Vincent, Byron and Widinson, three of our students, we can do most of this work ourselves.
Thank you boys for your efforts.
Last week, heavy rains caused some landslides next to the road. New solutions are needed. The road remains a challenge.
