PAKASHKA-SACHA First Impressions as a volunteer
I’m Amanda and I come from Germany. I’ve been living here at PAKASHKA-SACHA as a volunteer for three weeks and so far I’m really liking it. I’m quite surprised myself at how quickly the new everyday life has settled down and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for a long time.
Every day I learn something new, be it Spanish words and idioms, how to use a machete, interesting plants that are often very special, food combinations that are unusual for me and are often incredibly tasty, or more generally about life in Ecuador .
I never thought I could feel at home so quickly, far away from my home. I owe this above all to the local people, especially the students at PAKASHKA-SACHA , who always explain things to us, help us, show us wonderful places and have the patience to have conversations with us despite our bumpy Spanish.
I’m looking forward to spending more time in this wonderful project and I’m excited about all the experiences I’ll have here!
