Christmas, time of festivities, gifts, abundance. Not all this applies to lot’s of people.
It was by chance when I met Nicolas, a 12 year old boy, on the bus to Tena. I know his family. When I asked him why he was going to Tena alone, he replied: “To sell gold. Dad has been sick for weeks and with gold-searching in the local rivers we creat a minimal income to have food.”
Most people here have zero reserves, and when difficulties, like loss of wages arrive, there are virtually no reserves available.
The decision was clear. We created several food packages that we delivered to severely affected families. Basic food but for these days also something sweet.

Happy holidays
