It started with a crazy idea. The idea to create my own education Project here in Ecuador. After all the experience and knowledge I had collected, working for various foundations here in Ecuador I was ready to take that step.

I started off to concretize this idea with a a team of three persons. We formed a foundation here in Ecuador to give the project the right base. This power gave me the initial kick to really realize this dream.

Unfortunately very soon the team lost interest. And these in the middle of all the preparations. This setback was difficult for me to cope with, nevertheless I decided to hold on to this dream and decided with all my strength to carry out this project alone. With the help of good friends and volunteers, I had a strong support to contenue this vision.

Beginning 2019 I bought a hilly, wild, 5.7 ha big, property close to Tena. Now, knowing the geography of the property, I finally was able to clearly plan the project. Investigating the terrain was not easy, though it was densely overgrown, almost impassable prime forest.

In November 2019 the was the moment to concretize this project. Building a access street. After negotiating for months with the local authorities, asking them to help me building the entry street to the building, I had to give up on that help. (I was notified thru indirect channels that without a bribe there will be no actions)

I contracted a privat company to build  the 250 m long entry street by myself at my own cost. It was Quiet a challenge on this difficult hilly terrain.

While this was in process I hired a contractor to build the house. I drew all the plans and set up a contract. Defined was a construction time of 5 months. Then came COVID and all came different . . .  Shortage of building materials, Lockdown that did not allow workers to travel, rising prices and more, drew a dark outlook. But all around these challenges we managed to stay focused and flexible to find new paths. And we succeeded.

Building here in Ecuador a house with our Swiss standard in our minds can drive one almost crazy.

But the end result is what is important. I think for Ecuadorian standards we have build a excellent house.
